Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki - pronounced Ray Key - means "universal life energy". Reiki is an ancient method of healing, reintroduced by Dr Mikao Usui, hence the name Usui Reiki. There are now many variations of Reiki, however they all stem from the Usui system.
What will happen?
The Reiki practitioner does not "heal" but is a channel for this life energy. Many people feel the energy as heat or cold or a "bubbling" sensation. No effort or concentration is required as Reiki flows to the areas of need supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. The treatment is done fully clothed, apart from shoes, and can be done on a couch or seated. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn Reiki. Reiki can be given for both physical and emotional benefit, however anyone with Epilepsy or Diabetes should consult their G.P. prior to considering treatment. It is also an excellent form of relaxation. Reiki sessions usually last for 30 mins, and plenty of plain water must be drunk after a treatment to eliminate toxins that may have been released into the system.
